2010 SGI Canada Youth Culture Festival

The SGI Canada Youth Culture Festival weekend, taking place May 14-16, 2010 in Toronto, is now the primary focus of the youth and future divisions. Our goal is to have 1,000 youth and future division members participate in this historic event that will commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Soka Gakkai, the 35th anniversary of the Soka Gakkai International, 50th anniversary of SGI President Daisaku Ikeda’s inauguration, and the 50th anniversary of kosen-rufu in Canada. The 2010 Youth Festival marks the next wave of capable successors in the second act of kosen-rufu.

The theme of the festival is “Your Victory Is My Victory”.

We are very proud to be working in partnership with Me to We, the social enterprise that supports Free the Children’s work with youth creating global change. SGI Canada is creating a high school program based on the theme of the culture festival that will be facilitated by Me to We. The festival will serve to inaugurate this program. High school students who are part of the Free the Children and Me to We network will be able to use this program and thereby deepen their understanding of the values of human dignity, peace and friendship, promoted by the SGI. SGI Canada’s partnership with Me to We is a way to enable us to contribute to the empowerment of youth to create change toward a peaceful and just world.

The schedule of events will be:
Friday, May 14 – Participants arrive in Toronto
Saturday, May 15 – Youth Culture Festival (dress rehearsal in the morning, performance in the late afternoon)
Sunday, May 16 – Youth and Future Division General Meeting (morning), participants depart (afternoon).
At this time we are happy to announce the package prices for participants, which will include all expenses except transportation to and from Toronto.
